It’s humming. The motor is on. The plate is not.
Power is reaching the unit. Nothing is grinding. Reset first. Then decide if it is jammed or dying.
Reset the circuit on the unit
- Red reset on the bottom. Kill the wall switch. Reach under the disposal and press the red reset button until it clicks.
- Wall switch back on. Run cold water and flip the switch. If it grinds, you are done.
- Then the breaker. Still only a hum? Reset the breaker once. Try the switch again.
Still humming after reset and breaker: the impeller is jammed, or the motor is dying. A jam you can clear. A dying motor you replace.
